Making Faithful Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World . . . One Person at a Time

Serving Others

Our church missions are one of the most vital activities of a growing and out-reaching church. Helping others and spreading the Gospel are central to the church mission.

Local Ministries:Our church supports a variety of local ministries which include the following;

Homeless Outreach:
Quilts for the Presbyterian Night Shelter
Sandwiches for the Presbyterian Night Shelter
Quarterly "Church on the Slab" worship, feeding and clothing

Community Link Mission:
A food pantry for area residents located on the church property, and was founded by this congregation. Church members bring food donations on a regular basis to donate to the food pantry.

Angel Tree: Each Christmas our congregation provides toys and clothing for school children in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District.

Youth and Adult Mission Trips:

National Missions:Support by our church include the United Methodist Committee on Relief. UMCOR goes all over the world and the United States providing emergency relief when a disaster strikes. In 2008 we prepared over 20 flood buckets to be distributed to flood ravaged areas of our county.

Helping Hands Emercency Utility Assistance:

Help families in the Saginaw area with utility assistance (water, gas or electric) once every 12 months.  These funds made possible through the communion rail offering the first Sunday of each month or any time someone wishes to donate to the cause.

Domestic Violence ministries through various means of support and outreach.

World Missions:SUMC supports missionaries, the United Methodist Committee on Relief (aiding when disaster strikes), and is raising the funds to dig 3 water wells in Africa. We have raised the money for the first two wells, and are half way to the third.

UMCOR Coffee Project:SUMC supports the Coffee project by purchasing coffee or tea through the Equal Exchange Program thereby helping small-scaled farmers in the developing world. If you wish to purchase coffee download the order form and hand into the church office.

Habitat for Humanity

We are building another Methodist House during “Building on Faith" in October. This Methodist House will again be sponsored by the Metropolitan Board of Missions and all local United Methodist Churches of the North and East Districts, plus others that want to participate. This has been an on-going district project of the Ft. Worth and   Mid-Cities Districts for many years. We want to include all of the new North and East District churches who want to participate, however we understand some of the churches are already planning to build or participate in builds going on in their communities. The more homes built the better!
